HEALING ANOINTING

HEALING ANOINTING

Healing anointing refers to the power and presence of God that brings about physical, emotional, and spiritual healing in individuals. The concept of anointing is found throughout the Bible, and it is often associated with the Holy Spirit. In this post, we will explore the biblical basis for healing anointing and how it can be experienced in our lives today.

The Old Testament frequently mentions anointing with oil as a symbol of consecration to God’s service. Priests, prophets, and kings were anointed as a sign of God’s calling and equipping for their specific roles (Exodus 30:22-33; 1 Samuel 10:1; 1 Kings 1:39). However, anointing also had a healing function in the Old Testament. In James 5:14-15, the use of oil for healing is also mentioned in the New Testament.

James 5:14-15 (NIV) says, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”

This passage highlights two important aspects of the healing anointing. First, it emphasizes the power of prayer in bringing about healing. Second, it underscores the importance of faith in receiving healing. Prayer is a means through which we can connect with God, and it is through our faith in Him that we can access His healing power. Anointing with oil is not a magical ritual, but rather a symbol of our faith in God’s ability to heal.

In Mark 6:13, we see that Jesus sent out his disciples to preach and heal, and they anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. Jesus Himself was also anointed with the Holy Spirit at His baptism (Mark 1:10) and empowered by the Holy Spirit to heal the sick and perform miracles (Acts 10:38).

Acts 10:38 (NIV) says, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil because God was with him.”

The anointing of Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power is a key aspect of His ministry of healing. It is through the Holy Spirit that Jesus was able to bring about physical healing, emotional healing, and spiritual healing in people’s lives. The same Holy Spirit is available to us today, and we too can experience the healing anointing in our lives through faith in Jesus Christ.

In conclusion, the healing anointing is a biblical concept that emphasizes the power of prayer and faith in accessing God’s healing power. It is not a magical ritual or formula, but rather a symbol of our faith in God’s ability to heal. The anointing of Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power is a key aspect of His ministry of healing, and it is through the same Holy Spirit that we can experience healing in our lives today. Let us, therefore, approach God with faith and confidence, believing that He is able and willing to heal us according to His perfect will.
